H.H. Tenzin Gyatso, the XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet, speaks to reporters during a press conference in Long Beach, CA on Friday, September 25th, 2009. Many SoCal media sources did not attend the press conference, perhaps due to the refusal of the sponsoring monastery to allow press into the main auditorium during official teachings. At first, no one had any questions, so the Dalai Lama simply started speaking on Compassion and understanding (with good reason!). I wish I'd asked something. KCAL 9, OC Register, Zuma (me), a small Tibetan magazine and Vietnamese new source were the only reporters present. And he's a world leader and Nobel Laureate!
